INKtober 01

Participating INKtober for the first time. Why add another item on to the endless to-do list? As I often said, "If there is a cliff, there is the urge to jump over it to find out what is underneath." Here we go. This is based from Lacroix 2006 Couture.

Day to Breaker 2014

Day to Breaker is an annual event in San Francisco where the people run while wearing all sort of costumes and outfits.(or without) Not sure where the urge to document these events came from. At the very least, it is a good excuse to get out on the weekend and hopefully see something interesting. Enjoy!

Surviving Thanksgiving 2013

Survivor of this years Thanksgiving slaughter in SF Zoo. Surprising number of people dropped by and yelled "I am going to eat you!", while I was sketching.  The stud held his ground and toughed it out. See you next year!

Never ending challenge to maintain the chops

Not sure if it is normal or just my personal addiction, there always seems to be an urge and need to constantly keeping up the skill set that I often do not get to practice. Every time I focus on one aspect of the work, the opposite gradually worsens.(talking about grass being greener on the other side.) Been drawing primarily using lines for the last few months, so I have to practice drawing with tone and shading in my own spare time. Below were all done from life, with charcoal on paper. 20 minutes each. There is so much to learn still.

Exercise for the sleepless

Been doing bot sketches as a late night/early morning exercise when I cannot sleep. Obviously, sniffing the fume from the markers is the ideal way to help one fall asleep... (Yeah right) Color pencil, markers and felt tip pens on paper.

Boxing day sketches

For the uninitiated, Boxing day in Canada is the day after Christmas, where every store would offer special discount and/or door prices with ridiculously low price tag. Every year, there would be army of shoppers battling it out for some bargain in hoping to save a few bucks. This year is no exception.(and so is my annual event in sketching the feeding frenzy)

Some tired shoppers resting on the bench in front fake plants, while at the same time discussing the next move in the plan of attack.

A couple of teenage girls seated on the floor after a round at Old Navy. Not sure why all the husbands and boyfriends need to be standing when it is much more comfortable sitting down. It seems to be happening everywhere I go.

Once a gift wrap station for Christmas gifts, now turned into "high rise" bench. With all  the "never before seen" citizens showing up in the shopping center, there is barely even a place to stand. All the regular height benches were either taken or given to senior citizens.

A line of well trained husbands and boyfriends waiting outside the Ladies room, guarding all the precious loot. I am not sure if their puppy at home behaves this well.
